Maida Gujili sweet prepared with maida flour and sugar syrup for sweetness. I tried this the first time and got crispy Gujili. It was very nice and awesome. Gujili means a bazaar or a market place. This sweet is often found in the gujili markets of Bangalore. It is one of the street foods available in the road side bazaars. But nowadays this dishes are getting vanished by the new ones.

Maida Gujili sweet
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Maida
- 1 Cup Sugar / சர்க்கரை
- Pinch Baking soda
- 1 Tsp Sugar / சர்க்கரை
- 1 Tsp Ghee / நெய்
- 1 Tsp Curd / தயிர்
- Pinch Cardamon Powder
- Oil for deep fry
Instructions
- Take 1 cup maida flour and sieve it finely
- Add to a bowl
- Add a pinch baking soda
- Add 1 tsp sugar
- Add 1 tsp ghee
- Add 1 tsp curd
- Mix everything well by hands
- Once mixed well add water little by little and knead dough
- Do not knead too much
- Gujili sweet dough is ready rest for 15 mins. You can also shape them now and give rest time later.
- Take a small ball sized dough.
- Press in the center with your thumb forming a pit at the center
- The pit makes the Gujili balls to cook from inside well.
- Meanwhile prepare sugar syrup add 2 glass water in a pan
- Add 1 cup sugar or add 1/2 more cup for more sweetness
- Boil till single string consistency
- Add pinch cardamon powder and switch off
- Now heat oil in a kadai
- Keep in low flame and add the shaped Gujili balls
- Fry till brown color and take away.
- Transfer to a plate and repeat others
- Add the fried gujilis to the sugar syrup all in the same time.heat syrup when it is cooled down and soak for 4-5 hours.
- After the syrup gets deep inside transfer to a plate and top up with sesame seeds and serve.
