This year, Ganesha Chaturthi falls on Friday, September 10, 2021.

Ganesh Chaturthi : Vinayagar Chaturthi is a popular Hindu festival celebrated as birth anniversary of Lord Ganesh. On Ganesh Chaturthi, Lord Ganesh is worshipped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. Celebrating the arrival of Ganesh to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati/Gauri. The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesh clay idols privately in homes and public

The festival is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi (fourth day of the waxing moon). The date of the festival varies annually, as per the Gregorian calendar it falls in the month of August or September.

We celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi by doing special pooja for Lord Ganesha, offering him his favourite food and visiting Ganesha temples & pandals. Ganesh Chaturthi is the next big festival after Diwali which is almost celebrated across all the states of India!

We usually make 2 or 3 type of kozhukattai, sundal varieties, vada, Sweet pongal and Payasam. Before that lets check what all the recipes which lord Ganesh like.

Ganesha’s Favorites : Modak / Kozhukattai (in Tamil), Sundal are his favorites. This kozhukattai is prepared with sesame seeds, peanuts, coconuts and jaggery and tastes delicious. The outer layer is prepared with rice flour, salt and water.

Kara amini kozhukattai is a spicy version of kozhukattai. there are different variations in preparing it. first they make kozhukattai with water and salt and then tempered. Other version is temperings are added to rice flour and then they make kozhukatai. Both the version tastes good.
