Clean 1 kg fish add turmeric powder and rinse well.
Peel 1/3 kg of shallots and take 7-8 tomatoes.
Add shallots to a mixie jar
Grind to a rough paste
Add tomatoes to the same jar and grind
Transfer to a plate
Extract pulp from 1 gooseberry sized tamarind.
In a earthern clay pot add 2 tsp sesame oil.
Add 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
Add few curry leaves
I kept some shallots to saute in oil.
Add ground shallots paste
Add required salt
Add 1 tsp turmeric powdee
Add 3 tbsp chilly powder
Add 4 tsp coriander powder
Saute till oil leaves
Add ground tomato paste
Saute till masala binds well
Add extracted tamarind water
Adjust consistency, check for salt and allow to boil well.
Once the raw smell leaves and starts rolling boil add cleaned fish pieces one by one.
Make enough space to fish to cook.
Switch off once you add all the fish. It will gets cooked in the heat of the pot.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
