Instructions
  1. Soak 100 gms of urad dal in hot water for 1/2 an hour or soak overnight. Take 100-150 gms of jaggery as per your sweet level.
  2. Grated 1/2 coconuts
  3. Add soaked urad dal and grind to smooth paste. Add 1 glass water and grind again.
  4. The consistency should be in flowing.
  5. Now add grated coconut to the urad dal paste and grind again.
  6. Now the urad dal and coconut paste is ready keep aside.
  7. Take powdered jaggery in a vessel
  8. Add 2 glass water and allow to boil
  9. Once the jaggery has been dissolved completely switch off the stove.
  10. Strain the jaggery syrup to a heavy bottomed vessel.
  11. Do not switch on the stove now.
  12. Add the urad dal and coconut paste to the jaggery syrup
  13. Mix well till bind
  14. Bind paste and syrup in flowing consistency.
  15. Now place on the stove and switch on the flame.
  16. Stir continuously otherwise lumps would form or it will get burnt underneath.
  17. Add 1/3 tsp cardamon powder
  18. Mix everything well till the raw smell goes off. It takes around 15 mins in low flame. If the kanji becomes thick adjust by adding little water.
  19. Garnish with grated coconut s and serve hot.
