Sura puttu one of my favorite dish now. Fish lovers surely like it. Some people do not know how to cook and may result in bad smelling dish, as this fish smells a lot. During my childhood however my mom does I wont eat at all as while preparing itself it smells lot. But once I came to know the amazing benefits I started eating this. It is a very good dish given for lactating moms to produce nutrients rich breast milk. My mom prepared this for me during post delivery and I benefited lot.
This sunday one of our guest asked for this dish to my MIL so she prepared the dish. Sura puttu came out very well my MIL is an expert in all kind of non-veg recipes. I need to learn lot from her still.
Clean fish well with turmeric powder and rock salt and wash in running water. In a open pan add fish and pour sufficient water and boil it with little salt. After the fish got cooked cool it down to room temperature.
Chop onion, cut green chilly lengthwise.
In a pan add 1 tbsp oil.
Add mustard seeds fennel seeds and cumin seeds for tempering.
Add curry leaves and saute well.
Prepare ginger garlic paste in a mixie.
Add 2 tbsp paste to the pan and saute till raw smell goes off.
Add 1 TSP turmeric powder.
Add chopped onion and green chillies saute well.
Mix all the ingredients well add 1 TSP salt.
Now add the cooked shark fish to the masala. Just mash it in hands.
Once you add all the fish just check for salt and adjust.
Stir fry in low flame. If you want add some oil and deep fry.
Sura puttu is ready now. Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves and serve hot.
