Suiyam or susiyam or sugiyam our traditional sweet since ages. Suiyam made with Channa dal, jaggery and coconut. For the batter I used maida and rice flour. This recipe both my mom and MIL will do but my mom won’t add coconut in the stuffing whereas my MIL add grated coconut in the stuffing. This traditional sweet can be prepared in various occasions like Diwali, Navarathri, Varalakshmi viradham etc. It is also a best tea time snacks. Me and my brother will be eagerly waiting for the evening to return from school to enjoy this sweet snacks. Now even my daughter like this sweet very much and she shouts Amma sweetu sweetu like that lol!!! But I limited her to eat as it was evening and it cause indigestion to my baby as it is made with Channa dal, but she cried lot to have it again and again.
