Instructions
  1. Take 1 cup rice flour
  2. Sieve it finely
  3. In a kadai boil 1 cup water 1:1 ratio for flour to water
  4. Add 1/3 tsp salt
  5. Add 1 tsp oil to the water
  6. When it comes to rolling boil
  7. Add rice flour little by little mix in a laddle
  8. Once it is warm enough to touch knead by hands. Now kozhukattai dough is ready.
  9. For pooranam take 50 gms jaggery, 50 gms pottukadalai grinded into a coarse mixture. And 2 tbsp grated coconut.
  10. Mix pottukadalai and coconut first
  11. Then mix grated jaggery now pooranam is ready.
  12. Now take a lemon sized dough and flatten with fingers like a small bowl.
  13. Fill with pooranam inside
  14. Fold and press gently by one side.
  15. Place in a greased idly plate
  16. Steam in a idly cooker for 7 to 10 mins
  17. Pooranam kozhukattai is ready to serve
  18. Prasadham for lord Ganesha.
Recipe Notes

Important instructions to follow

  1. Home made rice flour gives nice taste and softness
  2. Grate fresh coconut for stuffing
  3. Grind fried gram dal or pottukadalai to a coarse mixture do not grind finely it becomes paste otherwise
  4. Use jaggery free of impurities
  5. Add cardamon powder if you wish to the pooranam it gives nice taste
