Kashayam for menstrual pain | Fennel and jaggery concoction

Fennel and jaggery kashayam introduced by my MIL and for her mom introduced it seems. It’s a very good home remedy to get rid off menstrual pain. And I have experienced the reduce in pain after having the herbal juice. I would recommend this herbal juice to have 2 days prior your periods and continue till the last day three times a day or atleast have it in the morning.

Chew on fennel seeds two days before you begin your menstruation. You could also make a concoction of fennel seeds and drink 200ml of it thrice a day. Prepare fennel infusion by boiling fennel in water. Fennel seeds are anti-spasmodic in nature and allow better contraction of the muscles in the uterus. This makes it easier for the blood to flow and also eases pain.



Jaggery eases menstrual pain: Jaggery, due to its richness in many essential nutrients, is an effective natural treatment for menstrual problems, especially providing relief from cramps. In case you experience sudden mood swings just before your period, you should eat a small piece of jaggery daily to combat symptoms of PMS since it leads the release of endorphins. These endorphins relax your body, thereby preventing premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

Instructions
  1. Add 1 tsp fennel seeds to a pan and dry roast
  2. Roast till it becomes dark. Add 1 glass water to it and allow to boil
  3. Take 1 tbsp jaggery or karupatti preferably
  4. Add jaggery to boiling concoction
  5. Boil till jaggery melts down completely
  6. It gives nice aroma of fennel and jaggery
  7. Switch of when it comes to rolling boil. Let it steep for 5-10 mins
  8. Then drain the concoction with a strainer
  9. You can also chew the left over fennel seeds if you like and then drink the kashayam
  10. Kashayam is ready to serve. Have it hot or warm.
  11. Drink this kashayam 2 days before your periods start and continue till it ends for three times a day.
