Kadai paneer masala with peas and capsicum

Kadai Paneer I did this recipe the first time and also in hurry that my husband is hungry. Kadai Paneer gravy has came out very well and my hubby appreciated me very much. Not only my hubby my father in law also felt surprised to taste the kadai Paneer. My mother in law commented that it was little spicy and I myself loved to have the kadai Paneer with hot roti.

I fried the Paneer before adding it to the gravy and also added many spices and flavoring agents like cardamon, cinnamon and ghee. But everything in less quantity it gave the gravy nice aroma and taste. You can also replace paneer with aloo. Preparing with sesame oil gives you nice authentic taste.

Kadai paneer masala with peas and capsicum
Instructions
  1. Cut 250 GMs Paneer into cubes
  2. Add 1 tsp chilly powder
  3. Add 1 tsp garam masala powder
  4. Add 1/2 tsp salt
  5. Mix everything well and keep aside
  6. In a mixie chop 2 onions roughly add 1 inch ginger pieces chopped add 2 garlic cloves peeled and grind to a smooth paste and keep aside
  7. Add 3-4 tomatoes and grind to paste and keep aside.
  8. In a pan add 2 tsp oil or ghee and fry Paneer cubes.
  9. Fry till golden brown and keep aside.
  10. In the same pan add 2 tsp oil and add 1 tsp mustard seeds and 1 tsp cumin seeds
  11. Add few curry leaves
  12. Add ground onion paste
  13. Add 1 tbsp full chilly powder, 1 tsp coriander powder and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. Mix everything well and saute in low flame till oil leaves out.
  14. Add ground tomato paste and saute till raw smell goes off
  15. Sprinkle some cinnamon powder or add a small stick.
  16. Add 1 tsp cumin powder and 1 tsp ajwain or omam
  17. Add fresh peas one hand full
  18. Add 1 capsicum chopped
  19. Mix everything well with the masala
  20. Add 1/2 glass water and cook the veg
  21. Once the veg is cooked and the gravy thickens
  22. Add paneer cubes boil for 2 mins and switch off.
  23. Add 1 tsp ghee on top and sprinkle 1/2 tsp cardamon powder give a quick mix and serve.
  24. I served with soft chapati.
Recipe Notes

Important instructions to follow

  1.  As we grind onion and tomato raw saute well in oil
  2. Sauting  masala for longer time gives you nice color and tastes good
  3. Fry paneer cubes and add to the gravy otherwise paneer will look blank and tastes none
  4. As we already added garam masala to the Paneer I dint add it to the gravy
  5. Adding ghee and cardamon powder at the last give you nice flavor and richness
