Easy Chicken gravy recipe

My all time favorite recipe. This is my mother’s method of preparing this chicken gravy recipe. It tastes awesome with steamed rice or with rasam sadam with this chicken thokku. Once I did this for my hubby he started loving this dish very much. He insists me to do this with country chicken. As the gravy gives nice taste with country chicken but the flesh part is less. You can try this recipe with broiler chicken too as it contains more fleshy part, it will be spicy and juicy to have it.

Easy Chicken gravy recipe
  1. In a pan add oil and saute chopped onion till golden brown.
  2. Add two bay leaves, 2-3 cloves and cinnamon stick.
  3. Add two green chilly cut lengthwise.
  4. Add curry leaves , saute well till green chilly changes color.
  5. Add 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste saute till the raw smell goes off.
  6. Add Tomatoes and saute till mushy. Add 1 tbsp chilly powder, 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
  7. Once the oil leaves at the sides add chicken.
  8. I have used naatu kozhi / Country chicken so cook the chicken in cooker for 3 whistles or in a open pan till its cooked.
  9. Add 1/2 glass water, cover and cook.
  10. As chicken is already cooked it takes almost 5 - 10 minutes to cook. If the chicken is not cooked for 3 whistles cook in the gravy for some more minutes.
  11. Add coriander leaves and serve. Its easy to prepare this recipe.
  12. This chicken gravy goes well with rice, chapathi or dhosa.
