Easy butter muruku recipe for Krishna Jayanthi. We used to prepare butter muruku during Krishna Jayanthi and offer to God. And it is also a favorite south Indian tea time snack. Butter murukku recipe – South Indian popular snack made with rice flour and besan.It has a nice flavor of butter and jeera. As it is not spicy kids like to have this more. Not only kids people of different age group loves to have this.
This butter muruku is prepared with rice flour, gram flour, butter, jeera, ellu that is sesame seeds, a pinch hung and salt for taste. It is very easy to prepare by any one who is new in cooking. As Lord Krishna loves butter, recipes made with butter is offered to him as neivedyam. Here in south India we celebrate the birth of lord Krishna as Krishna Jayanthi whereas in other parts of India they refer as gokulashtami or janmashtami.
Kids at home are decorated like lord Krishna or seedhai and people celebrate this festival mostly at evening. They also decorate home and draw feet of lord Krishna at the floor and draw kolam at home. And prepare sweets and neivedyam prasadham and offered to god and also people enjoy having this sweets and snacks.

- 1 Cup Rice Flour / அரிசி மாவு
- 1/3 Cup Gram flour
- 1/2 Tsp Cumin seeds / சீரகம்
- 1/2 Tsp Sesame seeds
- 1 Tsp Butter
- Pinch Hing
- 1 Tsp Salt

- Take 1 cup rice flour
- Sieve it well and remove any impurities
- Take 1/3 cup gram flour
- And sieve it well
- Take the flours in a bowl. Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- Add 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
- Add a pinch hung or asafoetida
- Add 1 tsp heaped butter
- Add 1 tsp salt or as required
- Mix well by hands
- Add hot water little by little and knead dough
- Knead like a chapati dough keep aside
- Heat oil in a kadai
- Take the star shaped plate from murukku maker
- Grease oil inside muruku maker
- Stuff the knead dough inside
- Press gently the dough in muruku maker
- Once the oil is hot enough
- Press muruku maker from top gently in the oil
- Press small sized muruku
- Turn sides and cook in low flame. Drain excess oil
- Butter muruku is ready now
- Even kids can have this as it is not spicy. Lord Krishna s favorite butter muruku
